Filing a complaint against the judge is on my list of things to do. I didn't realize at the time that I was protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act and that the ADA applies to courts. I have PTSD and depression from domestic violence, plus two medical disabilities. For the judge to order me to conduct a trial with those disabilities was just absurd. I completely broke down in the courtroom over and over again and couldn't even speak. The judge made rulings based on my husband's attorney's presentation because I literally couldn't speak. All I could do was weep and watch in horror as my life was destroyed. When I think back to those events, I feel traumatized by the court process. I want to do something about that. So I'm thinking of filing a complaint and asking the judge to recuse herself. I ran up $45, in legal fees. I have no of paying that amount. I don't want to increase my debt even more by hiring an attorney. At this point I understand the legal system very well. I'm intelligent enough to read the law and I write very good motions. I just wrote my appeal brief with no help at all, and I know it's solid. I learned the hard way that YOU know your life story and YOU are motivated to do whatever it takes to save your life, much more so than an attorney. The other type of depression I get is irrational and cyclical. It relates to the daylight hours, and I always feel it settle in, and usually don't get full relief until. During the down periods, it's important for me to practice "depression hygiene" maintenance to minimize the impact of the depression that happens. Therapy if I find the depression is not lifting after a few months. Seems like once every 10 years or so I really need a good head shrinking. My experience with anti-depressants have not been great. Employers expect the maximum effort for the minimum pay. Lower stress jobs often don't pay enough to avoid financial stress.
